Product Description

Desert Rose the largest selling pattern in the history of American dinnerware, made its debut in later 1941. It has enjoyed the world’s longest period of popularity of any dinnerware pattern produced by a single company. The Rose Rugosa, rugged wild rose of poem and song was a natural design selection. The character of the bloom with its simple delicate petals made it adaptable to hand painting. This beautiful handpainted pattern is still one of America’s favorite casual tableware patterns. In 1964 the sixty millionth piece had been produced and Desert Rose is now on display in the historical Smithsonian Museum. First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy chose Franciscan Desert Rose for use in the White House. Desert Rose, the irregularly scalloped edge of thorny vines creates a believable frame for the fully opened pink roses with their golden centers and soft green leaves. The softness of the design is further enhanced by its cream colored background. This lovely divided vegetable is 10.5 inches and an easy way to serve a variety of vegetables or two side dishes at once on the table. Durable enough to be used everyday. This product is dishwasher, freezer, and microwave safe. Additional accessories available.

The wild rose that rambles across much of America’s landscape decorates this popular 1941 dinnerware pattern. The pattern features pink roses with yellow centers and green leaves resting on a creamy background, while brown twining stems form an irregular rim on some of the pattern pieces. Hand-painted with visible brush strokes, each piece exudes its own individuality.

Standing on its own as a gift or accessorizing a full range of Franciscan Desert Rose dinnerware, this 10-1/2-inch divided vegetable dish makes a versatile, everyday table addition. The two divided compartments hold any combination of vegetables, rice, potatoes, or other side dish. Seasonal candies also look festive in the plate. Named for the founders of California’s historic missions, there’s nothing ascetic about Franciscan ware today: the durable dish is safe for the microwave and freezer, and slips into the dishwasher for scrub-free cleaning. –Ann Bieri
